Proposal submission is necessary in Upwork. Actually for the new freelancers with limited connects the situation become critical. But if you are not getting any new job/project, you have no choice but to use your connects.
Ok let's move on to the main topic.
Once you have found a job of your interest and expertise, you have to click on the job. You'll be landed on to another page where you have to click on "Submit a proposal".
On this page, on top you will find "Proposal Settings"
Here, you'll get the information of how many connects will you require for the particular task and how many will remain in your account. Also there is a section of creating a specialized profile. We will discuss it later on.
In the "Job Details'' section you will find the nature of the job. The various conditions from your client such as experience level, skills and expertise etc.
In the "Terms" section you will get the client's budget. If you are a newbie on Upwork, I recommend to choose "By project" instead of "By milestone". This means you will get the payment at the end, when all work hasbeen delivered. Also in this section, you can bid the task if you want to take less amount than the one mentioned by the client.
Now, the most important thing is the cover letter.

Last but not the least you have to add/upload your own samples of work. This simply means your previous experiences if any in the field.
Finally click on "Submit Proposal". A notification will come about "escrow". Simply read once and allow it. You will get the notification on top of your home pathat "Your proposal is submitted".
