Whenever you search something in Google, you see three things -
Title of the article, Permalink and Meta Description
Google will check if your keyword is present in the title and meta description. The main keyword must be present in the title, meta description and permalink. For a standard article of 500 words, you choose three to four keywords. One of them will be the main and the others will be related keywords. Also use the main keyword in all the images of the post and the major heading of the post.
Minimum length of a post must be 500 words. Keep the title or the main heading in H1 tag. However, in blogger the outlook of these features are little different. The sub-headings must be written in H2 tag. If there are more number of sub-headings, you can use H2 twice or thrice and use H3 for others and if more number of sub-headings are to appear, you can use H4 or simply bold. In case of blogger you can use the title as major heading or a different heading but in WordPress, there is only one title as major heading. This help Google to determine that your post is a structured one. It's good if you can manage to put the main keyword once in each of the H2/H3 tags but that mustn't alter the readability of your content.
Any post has a general structure - An intro, body and conclusion or your opinion. To place keywords, intro and conclusion are the best positions. Place the main keyword in the intro (First 100 words) and the conclusion part (Last 100 words) of your content and in the body part, place both the main and the related keywords. Don't forget to place the main keyword in your first sentence of the post. You can make all the keywords bold, underline or italic for your own convenience.
Keyword Density is very important where 2% is the average density. This means, in a post of 500 words, minimum 5 to 7 keywords are enough. This means if you are using a total of 4 keywords ( 1 main + 3 related) then total keywords will be between 20 to 28. Don't repeat the main keyword more than 5 times. A keyword can have two to five words in general. There is no such limit. A keyword like "Sunday outing" is a short tail keyword and a keyword like "Sunday outing in Assam" is a long tail keyword. Flow of writing is equally important and it mustn't seem like you have put them forcefully.
In meta description, you have to write about the post content in sort. Use the main keyword in meta description. Meta description has word limit. Use the keywords in alt text and title text of the images. This is also one kind of SEO you shouldn't miss. If the image fails to load, then Alt text is displayed. Use the main keyword once in Alt text maintaining an optimum length. No keyword stuffing should be there. Don't use "image of" or "photo of" as Google already knows it's and image.
